BOWERS FLOOR COVERING

Job site preparation checklist

Job site conditions: We must have heat, power and lights. If we need to bring space heaters, generators or work lights let us know so we can make arrangements.

The floor: Must be free and clear of all furniture and personal items. If this isnít 100% possible you should notify us immediately.

Entry: Make sure you have a way of letting us in on installation day. Generally we will arrive between 9-11 am. We will call you if we are going to be later than that.

Access: Delivery of flooring requires unobstructed pathways.

Work Space: We will need at least a 6íx6í or so area in preferably a centralized location indoors for tools.

Pets: Please make sure they are secure.

Closets: Clear out closets at least 3 feet off the floor, remove the lower shelves if you have to in order to accommodate a proper installation.

Doors: Doors that swing over carpet must be removed prior to installation. Sometimes doors will need cut or adjusted to accommodate the new carpet. See here.

Wires: Wires or cables extending from the wall into the room should be fastened up off the floor whenever possible. Wires protruding from the floor will come up through the carpet as well. If you have a dead wire that you donít want through the carpet, remove it. If you want us to install carpet over wires that run across or around a room, expect a small additional fee, as it will take extra time.

Facilities: Provisions for a restroom are considered standard. If we have to drive somewhere to use facilities we will have to consider it as down time. Sorry.

Parking: Installers have many tools and supplies to carry into the building in addition to the flooring material itself. Please reserve a parking spot that gives us some priority. Thank you.

Base/Molding: Sometimes it is necessary to remove the base/molding prior to installation. Most of the time it is not. If the molding was installed after the carpet last time, it probably needs to come off. I consider the best height to hang the base is  3/8" off the sub-floor
